Bluestem
Farm has spent 20 years protecting the quality and the fineness
of their wool. The flock last core tested at 17.8 microns. Most
of the animals are 70's and 80's. Bradford spin count. This was
accomplished by using "Big Blue" as the stud ram and
the fine fleeced ewes. The offspring have produced large, fine
fleeces.

When we speak of "fine" fleeces,
we are referring to the micron count. The micron of each fiber
determines how it will feel next to your skin. Many people claim
they are allergic to wool because they have been irritated and
scratched by a coarse wool not meant to be worn next the skin.
The smaller the micron or the finer the wool, the better it will
feel next to the skin. Most people can wear Bluestem Rambouillet
wool next to their skin. |
 Every
breed of sheep has a special purpose and the Rambouillet's purpose
is to produce delectable meat and fine wool to be used for lightweight,
warm, next to the body clothing.
